THE LISBOAN
We are an international school for students aged 3 to 18, offering a dynamic learning journey that begins with the excellence of the British Curriculum and culminates in the prestigious International Baccalaureate.
Welcome to The Lisboan International School—a place where joy, curiosity, and boundless potential come to life!
As a lifelong educator and parent, I know that a child’s happiness and well-being are at the heart of everything that matters in education. At The Lisboan, we believe that school should be a place where children wake up excited to discover, where their voices are heard, their passions nurtured, and their dreams embraced. Our mission is simple yet profound: to create a community where every child flourishes, in every sense of the word.
Picture this: a school filled with laughter and fun, where creativity spills out of classrooms and into the world. A place where friendships are forged, challenges are met with resilience, and every success—big or small—is celebrated. At The Lisboan, learning isn’t just about knowledge; it’s about sparking imagination, cultivating kindness, fostering friendships, and instilling a love of growth and understanding that lasts far beyond school years.
The Lisboan is no ordinary school. Nestled in the historic and creative Alcântara district, our beautifully restored campus merges Lisbon’s rich heritage with cutting-edge design to inspire innovation and discovery. We invite children to engage with their environment—whether through our use of Lisbon’s rich heritage and culture as an extended classroom or through sustainability projects that address real-world challenges.
At The Lisboan, we embrace a world-centred approach to education that draws children out of themselves and into the vibrant world around them. We see education as an invitation to encounter the world, to open up possibilities for children to grow as unique individuals in dialogue with the world and each other. Education at The Lisboan is grounded in the belief that teaching is an ethical act. We strive to create a culture where children feel seen, valued, and empowered. They are not passive receivers of knowledge, nor solitary explorers—they are participants in a dynamic, shared journey.
Guided by our values—Kindness, Curiosity, Connectedness, Resilience, and Integrity—we aim to nurture every child so that they can thrive and flourish. These values come to life through our unique BOA principles: Belong, Own, Act. At The Lisboan, every child will feel a sense of belonging, take ownership of their learning, and be encouraged to act with courage and purpose.
As part of the Artemis Education family, we share a commitment to innovation and excellence, but we are also uniquely The Lisboan: a school rooted in the vibrant culture of Lisbon, alive with energy and purpose. From our carbon-neutral campus to our use of the city as an extended classroom, we are redefining what it means to learn, live, and connect with the world.
For me, education is a calling, and The Lisboan is a dream realised—a school where children lead with curiosity, where teachers ignite sparks of wonder, and where the joy of learning radiates in every corner.
I can’t wait to welcome you into our community. Together, we will create a place of magic, fun, and purpose, where every child can flourish.
